This event isn’t just for the CrossFit athlete. While the two-day functional fitness part of the event is the biggest part of the weekend, they also offer an Olympic weightlifting, a powerlifting and a strongman event-ideal if you have some athletes at your gym who want to try their hand at Olympic weightlifting in a competition environment. It also means there”s always something going on-always something to watch.
This event always attracts the top athletes in the Northwest Region. Last year, two-time CrossFit Games athlete Alexis Johnson took down the women’s event with Margaux Alvarez placing second. The year before, Emily Abbott, Alex Parker and Alessandra Pichelli, among others, competed. On the men’s side, the top three last year were Alex Anderson, Jordan Cook, and George Sanchez, who just competed at his first CrossFit Games a couple weeks ago-winning the banger event!
An excuse to visit the gorgeous city of Seattle-a great foodie and coffee city.
Organizer Jordan Holland doesn’t ever let this event go stale. Each year builds on the one before; each year, he offers new features. This year, for the first time, there will be an outdoor event at the competition, and for the first time, individuals and teams will compete on both Saturday and Sunday. They’re also working on some surprise new gear from PR lifting that they will be using in an event that has never been done before (that’s all we can say about that).
Held in October, this is the perfect opportunity to see where you’re at after a summer of strength and skill work (or a summer of drinking and beaching). Either way, competing in the fall will let you know where you’re at, what’s been working, and how you should shift your training moving forward into 2018.
